KEY PASSAGES

Galatians 2:20 ESV… I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

2 Corinthians 3:17 ESV… Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

SET FREE FROM THE POWER OF SIN

• Putting to death the deeds of the flesh sound easier said than done… Col. 3:5-8

• Augustine (345-439) found victory through the power God provided!

• Christians are set free from both the penalty and power of sin!

• The power to overcome sin, comes from God’s power within… Gal. 2:20; Phil. 3:8-10

• Believers have access to power that can accomplish the impossible!

• The early church was filled with people who had overcome nefarious ways… 1 Cor. 6:9-11; Titus 3:3-6

WHERE THE SPIRIT IS THERE IS FREEDOM

• The Spirit sets people free from the power of sin… Col. 3:17

• Those that are set free are being changed from one degree of glory to another… 2 Cor. 3:18

• Overcoming sin is not a totally passive experience…; Job 11:14; Eph. 4:22-24; Col. 3:5-8

• It’s Christ IN you… which means it’s Christ AND you!

FLIRTING WITH SIN

• We might be struggling to overcome, because we’re flirting with sin… Prov. 5:1-8

• We are to put sin as far away as possible… Job 11:14; Rom. 13:11-14

• We must all ask the question, “Am I making provisions for the flesh?”

• Jesus spoke to the importance of dealing with the sin in your life… Mt. 5:27-30

• What does it mean that where the Spirit is there is freedom?

• In what ways might a person “flirt” with the sin?

• Take time to thank God for the power he provides to overcome sin!
