The Convicting Work of the Holy Spirit!
Having Incredible Hope in an Incredibly Messed up world!

KEY PASSAGE

John 16:6-11 ESV… But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. 7 Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. 8 And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; 10 concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; 11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

THE WORLD SEEMS TO BE GOING DOWN THE DRAIN

  • Morally speaking the world seems to be headed down the drain!

  • This can be discouraging and saddening for many people.

  • The last days will not necessarily be good days morally speaking… 2 Tim. 3:1-4

  • The danger for Christians is that we develop a “defeatist attitude.”

HAVING INCREDIBLE HOPE IN AN INCREDIBLY MESSED UP WORLD

  • The Holy Spirit is given for the benefit of believers and non-believers… John 16:6-11

  • The Holy Spirit will convict the world with regard to sin, righteousness and judgment!

THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL CONVICT THE WORLD OF SIN

  • When the Spirit starts convicting, people’s lives start changing… John 16:9

  • The church has always thrived in difficult times!

  • The early church was full of people saved from their sin… 1 Cor. 6:9-11

  • The Holy Spirit is at work, even when we might not be fully aware… John 3:8

THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL CONVICT THE WORLD OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

  • The Holy Spirit will point people to Christ as the righteous Son of God… John 16:10

  • Jesus’ ascension to the Father was vindication of His life and ministry… Acts 7:55-56

  • The Holy Spirit foretold of the righteousness of the Messiah… Jeremiah 23:5-6

  • Chris is the righteousness for all who believe… 1 Cor. 1:30

THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL CONVICT THE WORLD OF JUDGMENT

  • The Holy Spirit will convict the world of Christ’s judgment of Satan… John 16:11; 12:31

  • Satan is a defeated foe… John 3:8

  • As the Satanic church grows in America, so does the opportunity for the Spirit to move!

  • Nothing is too hard for God… Gen 18:14
